Dartmoor is one of the best places in England to enjoy adventure and activity, whether that be of the do-it-yourself variety or undertaken in a more organised manner. Activities are available to suit a wide range of inclinations, from (weather dependent) white water canoeing on the River Dart to relaxing picnics on the high moor.
The huge array of animal life on Dartmoor offers extensive activities from horse riding, pony trekking and farm visits to falconry, carriage driving and trekking with llamas. For the more adventurous, the Dartmoor terrain is perfect for climbing, abseiling or mountain biking, and the local river Dart offers some fantastic canoeing and white water rafting opportunies. For those seeking less traditional pursuits there is treesurfing, at both the local River Dart Country Park and near Exeter with Tree Surfers.
Traditional country pursuits such as fly fishing, shooting, deer stalking and archery can be enjoyed locally (within season), and there is probably no better place in the world to learn these pursuits for the first time, as many of our guests have discovered.
An early morning ride in a hot air balloon is the perfect way to see the moor from above and for those that enjoy golf there are several local clubs including the renowned course at Bovey Castle.
